This post is dedicated to our year 11 students – present, past and future. Firstly, a massive congrats on finishing your first year of senior studies. You are halfway to your HSC. You thought Year 11 was hard…well you haven’t seen the worst of it yet! HSC thrown together with leadership roles, participation in extracurricular activities, graduation, formal, retreats..the list goes on! Your HSC year is going to be one of the busiest and most rewarding years of your life.

But before we arrive at that final destination, we have some work to do.

Preliminary exams have come and gone. Relief as you know that your marks will reset and you have another opportunity to get those marks you missed out on the first time round. Here are our 5 best pointers we share with our students to ensure they overcome any challenges from Year 11 and soldier on to conquiro their HSC year.

  1. Before you begin looking at content you need to be organized. Make sure you have your folders ready for each subject and they are labeled with each topic. Commit to using them daily and making sure everything you need is all in one place. Having this as your base means you are already half way ready for what’s to come.

  2. Revisit your essays and assessments once they are marked. Often students look at the mark and then throw the paper away. If we don’t revisit our mistakes we won’t know what we did wrong and how to improve that next time. A simple task of reflection and rewriting each assessment will make a world of difference.

  3. Lift is always a balance of everything in moderation – so with your study time be sure to still enjoy your social time. Our students have always maintained a healthy amount of part time work and enjoying social events on the weekend whilst still also committing to their weekly study timetable.

  4. Don’t give up your hobbies, these are the activities that provide you with joy and pleasure and is a good time away from study. It also ensures that you learn to properly manage your time and avoid wasting time.

  5. Enjoy the ride- whatever bumps and turns it throws at you they are all there to create your final year that you will take with you forever. Remember that you have the support that you need and can make it through!
