Balancing school work with everyday life commitments can be challenging but it is an important life skill that will always be useful. At Tutoring4All we encourage our students to participate in external activities as they provide a wide range of benefits which develop their schooling journey.

Some activities we recommend include:

  • Art Classes: It’s well known that our left brain and right brain each have their ability of being creative and analytical. Many studies have shown however that no matter which you feel you identify with the most, having a connection between the two makes the other skill stronger. Take a read of research done here: https://www.thoughtco.com/right-brain-left-brain-theory-art-2579156. Art classes are a great way to establish a connection between both which will result in an overall stronger approach to academic studies.

  • Drama: Some children often lack confidence in their work and ability to complete tasks. This can then affect their ability to perform in tests and present speeches. Participating in drama classes is a fantastic way of overcoming these obstacles as they are able to gain these skills in a safe and nurturing environment which will then allow them to perform in the classroom. • Learning an instrument: Similar to the above benefits, learning how to read music and play instruments involves parts of the brain that aren’t used on a daily basis. This means we are extending our ability and challenging ourselves to go further. Learning how to read music is like learning a new language, it excites the brain and establishes a sense of achievement once you are able to read an entire piece.

  • Taking up a sport: Participating in physical exercise is a great break from sitting and being in front of a screen. It keeps us active and helps release endorphins which help us concentrate. Having a sport for a hobby also teaches great time management skills because you are challenged to complete your school tasks with enough time to run around the park and kick a ball!

These are not the only things you can do but it’s a great start. Feel free to get in touch if you’d like to chat to us and see how we can help.
